The Shift You Can Feel

The world of work is changing. Your career won't protect itself.

You already know it. You can feel it in the job market, in the rejections, in the silence from recruiters who used to reply. The World Economic Forum has put numbers on what your gut is telling you.

The Great Skills Reset, 2025 to 2030

39% of the skills you have today will be obsolete by 2030.

WEF surveyed over 1,000 global employers representing 14 million workers. The verdict: nearly two in five core skills will change, 92 million roles will be displaced, and 170 million new ones will be created. The people who reposition win. The people who stay still get left behind.

39%
of existing skills will change or disappear by 2030
92M
jobs displaced worldwide over the next 5 years
170M
new roles created, a net gain of 78 million
63%
of employers cite the skills gap as their biggest barrier

The shift isn't coming. It's already here. The question isn't whether your industry will change. It's whether you'll be positioned for the part of it that's growing.

The CareerVive Method

You don't need a new CV. You need a new story.

The market isn't buying experience. It's buying evidence of how you think. STAR leaves out the part that actually proves you: the obstacles. STORY puts it back in. This is the framework we work through together, the same one I've used with hundreds of senior professionals moving industries, switching functions, or stepping up.

S ยท Situation
Set the scene. Make it matter.

Most people start in the weeds. They list what they did, not why it mattered. The situation is the stage: the size of the problem, the stakes, the business context. This is what turns a task into a story the listener actually cares about.

Not: "I managed a team of five." Instead: "We'd lost two key clients, margins were down 12%, and the board wanted answers in six weeks."

T ยท Task
What were you actually hired to do.

The task is the mandate. Not your job description, the actual remit you were brought in to deliver on. This is where most people under-sell themselves, describing what anyone in their role might do instead of what they specifically were asked to solve.

Not: "I was the project manager." Instead: "I was brought in to rebuild the delivery function after two failed implementations."

O ยท Obstacle
The part STAR leaves out. The part that proves you.

This is the difference. What got in your way? The politics, the legacy systems, the budget cut, the team that didn't believe it was possible. Obstacles are what make the result meaningful. Without them, your achievement sounds like it would have happened anyway.

"Halfway through, the sponsor left. The replacement didn't believe in the project. I had to rebuild the case from scratch and win the new exec over in three weeks."

R ยท Result
The evidence. Quantified where you can.

Numbers land harder than adjectives. Revenue, retention, time, cost, satisfaction, headcount, NPS. If you can't put a number on it, describe the before and after in terms anyone would recognise as progress. This is the proof.

Not: "It was successful." Instead: "We landed it six weeks early, 8% under budget, and it became the template the group rolled out across three regions."

Y ยท You / Why
Why this story, and why you. The part seniors live or die on.

This is what separates a good answer from a hire-this-person answer. Why did you take this on? What did it teach you about how you work? What do you carry into the next role because of it? Y is where your personal value finally shows up in your own words. It's the reason someone remembers you after the interview.

"I took it on because I've always believed the hard problems are the ones worth owning. I learnt that when the story stops being clear, you rebuild the story before you rebuild the plan."

A change in dynamic.

Aneal delivered a thought process that adapted my way of thinking. The result: I landed my most recent role. It was only a couple of brief conversations, and to me as a candidate, it was gold.

More than career coaching.

He didn't just look at my past experience. He saw who I could become. I've now landed a role in a department I'd been trying to break into for a while, and walked in genuinely confident.

Highly recommend, for the work and the man.

The process was more than "give me your background." It was about thinking about how to tell my story differently, in my own words, and reducing it to what I needed to stand out. It helped me secure my new role.

It has genuinely elevated my game.

Before working with Aneal, I had zero traction despite solid experience. My message wasn't landing. Now my CV, LinkedIn and personal brand are clear, credible and on point. Multiple interviews and shortlistings already coming through.
