Everything before this point shows you the system. Everything after it hands you the pieces.
Twelve sentences, the same in every industry I coach. When this many capable people recite the same script, the script is the problem. And scripts can be rewritten.
You don't choose a path by guessing, and you never choose one out of fear. Draw a line of best fit through everything you've done, the parts you were proud of, the problems you kept being drawn to, and it points somewhere. That line comes out of your story, which is exactly where we start.
Diagnosis first. Then the prescription.
Whichever path is yours, the method underneath is the same four steps, in this order. And this is the part I'm going to teach you today, so you leave with it started, not just heard.
One line, written down: by this time next year, where are you, doing what, and why does it matter to you? If it takes twenty drafts, that's the work happening.
Look at where your effort actually went over the past month. If it doesn't point at the sentence, you've been counting the wrong cars.
Out loud, this week, to someone you trust. A vision said out loud stops being a daydream and starts being a decision.
Most people search as though every job that exists is posted on LinkedIn. It isn't. If someone messaged me today and showed me they could solve a problem I have, I'd be open to hiring them, and I don't have a single advert out. There are thousands of business owners, and plenty of large companies, in exactly that position.
So stop leading with your job title, and start with what you're genuinely good at and which problems you can solve. Once you know the problem, you can go and find the people who have it. That's a side door, and nobody is queueing at it.
The advert is the front door. It is not the only way in.
Not ten you'd settle for. Ten that fit the vision. If you can't find them, that's your first finding: the vision needs sharpening before the search does.
For three of those ten, find the person rather than the portal. Search who joined that company recently and message them: you saw they'd moved, and you'd love to know who they spoke to and who the recruiter was. Most people answer.
The side door gets you the conversation, then they check you out. Your profile is where people validate who you are, so write it in the language of where you're going.
STAR leaves out the part that actually proves you: the obstacles. STORY puts it back in.
Anyone can list results. Not everyone can articulate what they had to overcome to get there.
The obstacle is the part of the story where the market finds out whether you're the person it wants in the room when things get hard.
What got better. What stopped breaking. What the business could do next that it couldn't do before.
This is where you stop being a CV and start being a person. Why this moment mattered. What you were trying to prove.
Take the line of best fit through what you actually care about, align it to what you're going for, and that is your brand. Who you are, aligned to what you want to do. Once it's set, you stop describing your work as a list of duties and start telling people the situation, the challenges, the results and why it mattered to you. They walk away understanding who you are, not just what you do.
Every role is a puzzle with pieces missing, and the description only shows the pieces they could name. The conversation has three moves.
The recruiter runs their questions. You answer with STORYs, so every answer carries situation, obstacle and result.
Targeted questions that surface the missing pieces. What does success look like in six months? What did the last person struggle with?
You hand them the completed picture: here's the whole puzzle as I now understand it, and here's where I fit. That's the close.
Most candidates answer questions. You complete the picture.
Twenty minutes, one to one with me. We talk about your experience, and I help you identify where your peak experiences actually are. We'll get through one or two on the call, because doing it properly takes a solid hour.
We draw the rest out of you together: the peaks, the obstacles in both lanes, the results, and the why underneath it all. You don't write it alone. That's the whole point of the mirror.
Positioning, the rooms, the conversations, the doors. Aligned to your vision so tightly that arriving stops being a hope and becomes a plan. Rise, reposition, build, or more than one at once.
It starts with the smallest possible step, and it costs you nothing: one call.
A router doesn't broadcast harder because a device connects, and it doesn't power down because nothing does. It emits at the same strength all day, so the right connection finds it the moment it starts looking. And when your signal drops, it isn't a character flaw: going quiet after a rejection is the most human thing there is. But the market can't see the bruise. It only sees the silence. So keep emitting gently, at the same strength whether anyone is connecting that week or not. This is the transcended state from the pyramid, working in practice. There's a phrase for it: inevitable magnetism. You stop chasing connections and start attracting them, repelling what isn't for you and pulling in what is.
A rejection feels like a verdict. It's actually one room, reading one picture, on one day, and it doesn't get a vote in your vision. The mathematics of this travel are strange: you can hear no forty times and yes once, and you've won. The first win makes every loss disappear from the record. And one becomes two, because the person who got the first win walks into the next room differently.
Eighty-five thousand to a hundred and twenty-eight, with a team of four. Same person, same experience, finally read at the level he was already working at.
Built and sold two restaurants, came to me for a bar manager job. His leadership travelled, and why he cared got him in. Two and a half months later, CEO of a charity.
She repositioned into a consulting firm and launched her own consultancy alongside it. Two roads, two incomes, one vision.

You talk to me. I understand you. And I reflect you back to you with zero obstacles or barriers in the way, exactly how far you could go with what you've already got. Everyone has a story they tell themselves, and a lot of it was put there by a bad manager, a long search, or other people's expectations. The mirror doesn't carry any of that. And my questions are built to pull you back up the pyramid, to the level where your best stories live.
When I say the thing you've thought but never said out loud, and it matches, that's when we're on.
No honest person can guarantee you a timeline or a salary. Here's what I can say, and I'll say it plainly: every single person I have worked with, I have been able to set a vision for, build a story for, and put a real strategy behind. Not most of them. All of them.
Two clients who started with me a fortnight ago have interviews booked, after months of very little. Every review I have is five stars. This isn't quick coaching or a gimmick, and you don't have to take my word for any of it: it's all public.
You bring the openness. I'll bring everything else.
Everything you've built travels with you. The only question left is where you're pointing it.
Twenty minutes, free, one to one with me. You don't need to know which path is yours yet. That's exactly what the call is for.
I'm not going to sell you anything on this call. How could I tell you what I'd do for you before we've set the vision? So let's start there, and if you love where it points, we'll talk about making it real.
