Why are there only 2 free searches?
Because the real work isn't in running searches โ it's in what you do with the roles in your Job Pool. Two searches gives you enough to see how it works and feel the value. The point isn't to keep refreshing for new jobs; it's to focus, triage and apply.
If you want more searches and the full tracker, that's what Starter and Pro are for.
Why is there no salary filter?
Because salary data on the open market is unreliable. Some adverts say a number, some say "competitive," some say "DOE," and most senior roles negotiate well beyond the advertised band anyway.
A filter based on bad data doesn't help you โ it hides roles you might genuinely want. If your title and seniority are right, the salary band will roughly match anyway. And from there, that's a conversation for the call, not a search filter.
Why am I getting fewer results than LinkedIn or other tools?
Because we're being strict on purpose. Most job tools surface anything that vaguely matches โ including roles where the title is wrong but a keyword happened to appear in the body text.
We scope searches to the actual role title, not what the page mentions in passing. Fewer results, but every one is genuinely the role you searched for. That's the trade we deliberately made.
What's the difference between Save for Later and Lock?
Lock keeps a role in your Pool. The Pool is your active triage queue โ what you're actively looking at right now. Lock pins it so it never auto-expires.
Save for Later moves a role out of your Pool and into your Tracker, tagged as "Saved for Later." Use this when you've decided a role is worth keeping permanent eyes on but you're not applying yet.
Lock = still triaging. Save for Later = decided, parked.
Why do Pool roles auto-expire after 7 days?
Because old job adverts get stale fast. A role that's still in your Pool a week later is either one you're ignoring (not interested enough to act) or one you've genuinely decided on (in which case lock it or save for later).
The 7-day window keeps your Pool focused on what matters right now. Stale roles auto-archive to Not Interested โ they're not gone, just out of the way.
Why does the Pool only show 20 jobs by default?
Because a wall of 100 jobs is paralysing, not helpful. Twenty is enough to focus on, work through, and feel like you're making progress.
If you want to see everything, the "Show all" button at the bottom of the Pool expands the full list. But for most people, most of the time, twenty focused options beats a hundred overwhelming ones.
What does Not Interested actually do?
Two things. First, it removes the role from your Pool. Second โ and this is the smart bit โ it teaches the system you're not interested in that specific URL. It won't appear in your future searches either.
This is the learning filter. Every "Not Interested" makes your next search cleaner. The more you use the tool, the sharper it gets for you specifically.
How is this different from LinkedIn, Indeed or Teal?
LinkedIn and Indeed are job boards โ they show you their own listings. CareerVive X-Ray searches across the major UK boards (LinkedIn, Reed, Indeed, Totaljobs and more) in one feed, then layers a learning filter on top.
Teal is a tracker โ you find jobs elsewhere and paste them in. We find the jobs for you, organise them in your Pool, and have the tracker built in.
